Armature Overcurrent Fault
F011 indicates the armature current has exceeded the programmable threshold, causing the drive to trip its output contactor and halt motor operation. This protection prevents thermal damage to motor windings and power semiconductors from sustained overcurrent conditions.

Drive display shows F011 fault code with red LED indicator on armature circuit
Motor stops suddenly mid-operation, output contactor clicks open audibly
Ammeter reading on armature circuit exceeded 110-130% of rated current before trip
Motor terminal voltage drops to zero while field voltage remains stable
Drive will not restart; attempting soft-start results in immediate re-trip within 2-3 seconds
Thermal imaging shows elevated temperature at main power thyristor heatsink (>80°C above ambient)
Mechanical load jam or seizure in driven equipment causing motor stall current condition
Shorted armature winding turn-to-turn fault or phase-to-ground insulation breakdown
Defective main power thyristor (SCR) or freewheeling diode causing partial short circuit
Gate drive circuit malfunction delivering excessive gate current to thyristor, reducing voltage drop margin
Faulty current measurement transducer providing false signal to control circuit, triggering nuisance trip
Incorrect current limit potentiometer setting below actual motor full-load current specification
Isolate drive from power supply using main disconnect switch and verify zero voltage with multimeter before proceeding
Check mechanical load: manually rotate motor shaft to confirm free movement and measure torque resistance with hand-crank indicator
Measure armature winding phase resistance using 4-wire ohmmeter method; compare to baseline specification (typically 0.5-5 ohms depending on motor rating)
Test main power thyristor (T1 and T2 terminals) using diode function on multimeter; measure forward voltage drop 0.6-0.8V both directions when gated; replace if shorted (<0.1V) or open (>2V)
Verify current limit potentiometer: meter from pot wiper to ground should read 2-4V DC at full-load current setting; adjust trimpot if reading drifts below 1.5V
Inspect gate drive circuit board for solder cracks, burnt resistors, or capacitor bulging around gate drive optocoupler IC; replace damaged components or entire gate card if damage confirmed
If mechanical load and thyristor test normal, perform armature winding insulation resistance test at 500V DC megohmer for 60 seconds; minimum acceptable reading 2.0 megohms; rewind motor if <1.0 megohm
After repair confirmation, clear fault by cycling drive power OFF/ON, then run drive unloaded at 25% current setpoint for 5 minutes monitoring ammeter stability before full-load operation
Safety First: Always isolate power and follow LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures before working on electrical components. If unsure, contact a certified repair technician.
